Smoothie Recipes

We are hitting the end of our fruit produce year and I always stalk up and either freeze a bunch, or end up with overly ripe fruit in the fridge.  The last couple years I have been throwing them together in a blender for SMOOTHIES as a solution.  I never go off a recipe, but they usually always turn out great!  So I thought I would do a couple of the combinations I do and figure out my measurements.

Here are a couple of my favorite combinations.  Fruity Lime is easier when produce is still in season and the Berry Tropic I often do out of season with my frozen fruit.

Fruity Lime: serving size approx. 2 (8oz glasses)

1 Peach
1 Banana
1/4 cup blueberries*
1/2 lime (juice) squeezed
8 large frozen strawberries*
6 oz. vanilla yogurt (I use yoplait)
1/4 cup Orange Mango juice (I use Simple Orange with Mango brand)

Blend.  Make sure to pulse so that the frozen fruit gets completely blended.

*If you do not have frozen strawberries, you can use fresh strawberries and frozen blueberries instead of fresh blueberries.

Berry Tropic: serving size approx. 2 (8oz glasses)

1 Banana
5 large frozen strawberries
1/4 cup frozen blueberries
1/4 cup or less frozen blackberry or boysenberry (more you use, the more seeds in the smoothie)
1/2 can of tropical fruit mix (drain juice)
1/4 cup cranberry grape juice
6 oz. peach yogurt (I use yoplait)

Blend. Make sure to pulse so that the frozen fruit gets completely blended.  If your smoothie is not blending well, adding a little more juice may help.

TIP: use ripe fruit only!

Enjoy!  Sweet & Simple.
